Before you participate in any research, you will be provided with a clear explanation of the study’s purpose and what will be expected of you. This process is called informed consent and is a fundamental part of research to ensure you receive clear and understandable information before deciding to participate.
This explanation includes the purpose of the study, the required procedures, the expected benefits, potential risks, and available alternatives. It also emphasizes that your participation is voluntary and that you have the right to withdraw at any time without any impact on your treatment or any of your rights at King Hussein Cancer Center.
You may also choose not to answer any question you do not wish to answer, without providing any reason, and without this affecting the quality of care or services provided to you.
After ensuring that you fully understand all the information, and if you agree to participate, you will be asked to sign the informed consent form.
You will receive a copy of the form for your records, and another copy will be kept by the research team in the study files.

Participation in research for children/minors:
If your child is under the age of 18, they cannot be enrolled in any research study without your consent as a parent or legal guardian, in addition to your child’s assent, depending on their age. Both are required before participation can begin.
The research team will explain all aspects of the study to both you and your child in a clear and understandable manner before any decision is made.
