Princess Ghida Talal Launches the Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Amman, October 1st, 2021 – Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), launched the 6th Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign under the slogan “Mammography screening saves lives. Have you scheduled your mammogram?”

The campaign will continue throughout October, which is recognized internationally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with the objective of spreading awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

On the occasion of the launch, Princess Ghida said: “I will never cease to encourage every woman to perform her early detection examination as soon as possible, as I have always believed that early detection saves lives.”

The 2021 campaign’s slogan aims to shed light on the importance of mammograms as the most effective method for the early detection of breast cancer. The campaign theme comes in response to a recent field study conducted by the Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP), which showed that awareness is vital to promote early detection, and to help women overcome the fear and social stigma of cancer that would otherwise reduce early detection turnout.

JBCP is a nationwide program led and supported by KHCF/KHCC for the provision and expansion of breast cancer early detection services, technologies, and social awareness for women in Jordan.
