KHCF Launches Go Green Awareness Campaign
Amman, September 2024 – The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) has launched its annual Go Green awareness campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and the direct impact of environmental pollution on health. The campaign emphasizes the fight against all forms of smoking and the reduction of air pollution, both of which significantly increase the risk of cancer.
Scientific research shows a link between environmental preservation and cancer prevention. Smoking is responsible for 80% of lung cancer cases, while air pollution is associated with 36% of lung cancer-related deaths.
Supported by Bank al Etihad and in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Health, the campaign includes awareness activities across the Kingdom, promoting positive environmental and health practices among individuals and institutions.
Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of KHCF, stated: "At the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, we adopt a comprehensive strategy that addresses all aspects of cancer prevention, with a strong focus on prevention programs. We will continue to intensify our efforts to raise health awareness within the community, encouraging sustainable practices that help protect our environment and, in turn, reduce cancer rates."
