HRH Princess Ghida Talal Launches 6th “Connecting Through Research” Conference

Amman, 22 March 2019 - Under the patronage of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), the 6th Connecting through Research Conference was launched on Friday. The conference is organized by the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in collaboration with the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC).

The conference, which takes place on March 22nd and 23rd, primarily focuses on using knowledge exchange and scientific research to support the fight against cancer, and includes discussion of 140 scientific papers with a group of leading researchers from the Middle East.

During her opening speech, HRH Princess Ghida Talal announced Al Hussein Bin Talal Cancer Research Award, which gives recognition to outstanding cancer researchers from across the Arab region. Princess Ghida stated: “It is essential that we honor advancements in the world of research and join forces through strategic partnerships between institutions, which will enable us to provide our patients with the best care as we continue the fight against cancer”.

The conference witnessed significant participation from various renowned doctors and research specialists from across the Arab world, including Dr. Hagop Kantarjian, the Associate Vice President for Global Academic Programs at MDACC, Dr. Ali Taher, CEO and Director General of the Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute at AUBMC, Dr. Asem Mansour, KHCC Director General, and Dr. Hikmat Abdel Razeq, KHCC Deputy Director General.
