Experience

Head of Psychiatry Department – Royal Medical Services (previously).
Director of Queen Alia Military Hospital (previously).
Director of Prince Hashim Bin Al-Hussein Military Hospital (previously).
Established the premier Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic in Jordan in 2003 at the Royal Medical Services (RMS), prompting other institutions to establish Child Mental Health clinics as well.
Selected to lead the first Child Psychiatric clinic at the Jordan University Hospital.
Led the first study on the prevalence of Child Sexual Abuse in Jordan in 2001.
Founded the first medical conference for the Jordanian UN Peacekeeping troops in Sierra Leone at Level III Jordanian Medical Hospital in 2004, which was attended by practitioners from all troops. This prompted succeeding Jordanian troops to hold similar conferences.
Featured speaker at the IWF 2016 World Leadership Conference “Crossroads of Change” in Chicago, USA. Participated in an interactive panel discussion called “The New Era OF Terrorism” as a global expert in working with juveniles and refugees recruited by extremists and terrorist groups.
Initiated a partnership between the RMS Psychiatric Department and Michigan State University in 2018, the first of its kind since the Department’s establishment.
Led the initiative to accredit RMS’s Psychiatric Department with the Arab Board of Health Specializations in 2018. As a result, the Department became the leading approved psychiatric examination center for the first time since its establishment in the 1970s.
Spearheaded the partnership between RMS’s Psychiatric Department and the Directorate of Education for Military Schools regarding educational seminars for teachers and parents for early detection and awareness of childhood disorders. The partnership was established in 2017 and is ongoing.
Actively involved in community service activities and initiatives such as training mental health workers and educators in remote and underdeveloped areas regarding early detection of childhood mental disorders and developmental delays for early transfer and treatment. Hundreds of psychologists, social workers, pediatricians, general practitioners and nurses have received professional training, which is reflected by the number of cases referred to child mental health services.
Active participant in training RMS staff on communication, leadership, and adaptation skills.
Integrated RMS’s Psychiatric Department into the work of several prominent national and international institutions pertaining to the welfare of children, including: the Jordan River Foundation, the World Health Organization, The Ministry of Health, The Ministry of Social Development, The Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, The National Council for Family Affairs, The Queen Rania Al Abdullah Association for the Care of the Military and their Families and The Princess Taghrid Association for Training and Development. Fostered a collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to participate in a study on the academic child and adolescent psychiatry in the Middle East.
Received more than 25 recognitions from several child and family institutions in Jordan
Presented at a 2019 workshop on Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Pharmacological Treatment prepared by the Jordanian Society of Autism and The Pharmacist Society of Jordan. Pharmacist role in ASD management.
