The Seven Mountains Initiative Launches for the Third Year in Support of Patients at KHCC

 
Amman, 18 November, 2019 – The Seven Mountains Initiative was officially launched for the year 2020, and for the third consecutive year, the Initiative will raise funds to support the treatment of underprivileged patients at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). The Initiative was launched in a press conference held at Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC), along with an announcement of the team’s total donation goal and the new summit to be climbed in the Pyrenees, in southwest Europe.
 
The press conference was attended by Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), Mr. Louay Shomaly, Founder of the Initiative and Principal of the International School of Choueifat, the 24 members of the participating team, and a group of media personalities and influencers.
 
This year, the team aims to raise USD 100,000, which will be entirely dedicated to supporting the treatment of underprivileged cancer patients at KHCC. Next month the team will start training for their expedition, which will take place in July, led by Jordanian champion mountaineer, Mustafa Salameh. The adventure will also include canoeing, zip Lining, rafting and climbing.
 
Speaking at the press conference, Mrs. Qatamish praised the remarkable role played by both the founder of the Initiative and the participants, stating: "We are thrilled to launch this initiative, which is committed to instilling kindness and generosity in the hearts of young participants and reinforcing their role in positively impacting the lives of cancer patients. We encourage all members of our community to support the fundraising activities of these participants to help alleviate the suffering of our patients."
 
Mr. Louay Shomaly also stated: “Our presence today is a sign of our determination to stand by the heroes of the King Hussein Cancer Center. This year, the team will face the challenge of raising $100,000, like other teams in previous years, while emphasizing our clear message that the children at KHCC are not alone in their struggle. "
 
The initiative was founded in 2018 by Mr. Louay Shomaly, with the objective of climbing seven mountains over the course of seven years, and raising funds to help cancer patients, who climb their own mountains of psychological and physical obstacles every day in their fight against the disease.
