Mission:

The primary goal of the department of surgery is to support the mission of KHCC. The Department of Surgery has a long-standing tradition of excellence in patient care, education and research in Jordan and across the region, it strives to:

  • Provide the highest quality patient care across all oncological surgical subspecialties
  • Recruit highly skilled surgeons who are renowned for their excellence in the surgical and multidisciplinary management of cancer.
  • Provide the best quality of undergraduate and post-graduate medical education
  • Promote the academic and personal development of the faculty by supporting professional growth, medical education, and research

Annually, more than 5000 surgeries are performed by the surgeons at KHCC. This makes the surgery department at KHCC one of the few high-volume cancer centers in Middle East. Most importantly, surgical outcomes are proven to be superior in high-volume centers.

Preparatory surgery clinic

This clinic is dedicated to receiving new patients, evaluating their case, and requesting the tests and X-rays necessary to determine their clinical stage.

 

Operating rooms

KHCC has 13 main operating rooms that are equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and machines. One of its rooms has also been designated for brain tumor surgery (the “Brain Suite”), equipped with a magnetic resonance device.

 

Day Case Surgery Unit

This unit is for planned surgical procedures that do not require a hospital stay to reduce the number of patients on the waiting list and save beds in the inpatient ward.

Education & Training Activities:

  • Residency Program

The surgical residency programs have received national and international recognition for outstanding education and training experience in surgical specialties and subspecialties.

The surgical fellowship program has been accredited by the European Society of Oncological Surgery, giving our qualified fellows the opportunity to obtain further certifications and recognition.

  • Residency Program – Joint Program With Islamic Hospital

The Surgery Department at KHCC is working in cooperation with the Department of Surgery at Islamic Hospital in running a five-year residency program in General Surgery. At the end of the fifth year, the candidates are eligible to sit for the Jordan Medical Council Board Exam in General Surgery.

  • Fellowship Program

This program is designed to provide participants with three years of experience in Surgical Oncology. They will gain clinical skills through experience in clinics and operating rooms, attending high-quality lectures on oncology (which are held two days a week), and participating in research activities and workshops.
