HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), inaugurated the Pediatric Cancer Department and Al Makassed Cultural Forum at Al Makassed General Hospital (part of Al Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut). The inauguration took place in the presence of Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, Grand Mufti of Lebanon, President Tammam Salam, Faisal Sinno, president of Al Makassed Association, Eng. Amin Daouk, Al Makassed Association’s honorary president, Awni Al Kaaki, president of Lebanon’s press syndicate, in addition to deputies, ambassadors and members of Al Makassed Association and a number of Lebanese political, social and cultural figures.

The ceremony began with a tour of the Pediatric Cancer Department including its recent expansion and modern medical equipment, after which the delegation headed to the conference hall to watch videos about KHCF/KHCC and Al Makassed General Hospital’s pediatric cancer department.

Princess Ghida stated: “I pledge to continue consolidating our partnership with Al Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association, not only because of its rich history in charitable and educational work, but also because I believe that the success of our Arab institutions is the only way to advance and ensure the future of the Arab world. I offer my congratulations to Al Makassed Hospital for the opening of the new Pediatric Cancer Department. This magnificent achievement means hope and safety for the Lebanese people, and will help save the lives of many cancer patients.”

Mr. Faisal Sinno said: “Princess Ghida does not only carry a candle of hope to us; she herself is a beacon of hope and love. This is true of the Salaam family for Al Makassed throughout the years, this is true of Jordan with Lebanon, and this is true of Princess Ghida with cancer patients from Jordan and Lebanon as well. Blessed are the hands that always give with generosity.”

He added: “Al Makassed has proven that it is an association that will remain true to the vision of its founders; an Islamic national forum for education and social and humanitarian work, and we will continue to follow in their footsteps.”

Princess Ghida was presented with the shield of Al Makassed as a symbol of appreciation.
