King Hussein Cancer Foundation Receives UN Interagency Task Force Award for Non - Communicable Diseases

 

New York, September 2019 - The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) received the 2019 United Nations Interagency Task Force Award for Non-Communicable Diseases, presented in conjunction with the UN General Assembly in New York.

 

The award recognizes KHCF’s efforts towards achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals related to the fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which have focused on raising awareness about cancer, promoting early detection screening and emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through avoiding tobacco use, healthy eating and physical activity in order to prevent NCDs.

 

On the occasion, Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, KHCF Director General, stated: “This award is a great achievement that reflects the scale of the Foundation's tireless efforts, locally and globally, particularly in developing the health strategies needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With the support of stakeholders at all levels, we will continue to work with greater ambition to conquer cancer once and for all."

 

The UN Interagency Task Force Award for Non-Communicable Diseases was established in 2018 to acknowledge significant efforts in the prevention of NCDs.
