KHCF Launches “Your Smoke Hurts My Lungs” Campaign for Lung Cancer Awareness
Amman, November, 2022 – The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) launched an awareness campaign under the slogan “your smoke hurts my lungs” during November; lung cancer awareness month. The campaign focuses on the issue of passive smoking and aims to spread awareness about lung cancer, its causes and symptoms, and prevention methods.
The campaign is sponsored by AstraZeneca as the golden sponsor, and MSD company as the silver sponsor.
Lung cancer is the most widespread type of cancer around the world. In Jordan, it is the primary cause of death for men and women, comprising 15% of all cancer-related deaths. The campaign highlights smoking as the primary cause for lung cancer, where eight out of every ten lung cancer cases are caused by smoking. Moreover, passive smoking increases the risk of infection in adults by 30%.
The campaign will run for the entire month of November, during which awareness sessions for the public and private sectors and healthcare providers will be organized. Additionally, KHCF’s social media pages will be utilized to spread awareness about lung cancer.
