Arab Palestinian Investment Company Establishes A Goodwill Fund to Support Palestinian Cancer Patients

Amman, November 26, 2019 - Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) signed a memorandum of understanding with Mr. Tariq Al Akkad, Chairman and CEO of the Arab Palestinian Investment Company (APIC), with the aim of establishing a Goodwill fund to cover accommodation expenses for Palestinian cancer patients who are being transferred from The Palestinian Ministry of Health to receive treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), as many underprivileged patients are unable to continue treatment due to their inability to secure the costs of staying near the place of treatment.

On this occasion, Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish stated: “We are proud of the strategic partnership with the Arab Palestinian Investment Company (APIC), which will help support Palestinian patients whose long-term treatment requires moving away from their county and their homes. This partnership demonstrates Mr. Tariq Al Akkad’s interest in all details related to cancer patients, which are not limited to treatment, but also include the residency aspect, which in turn increases the overall cost of treatment. There is no doubt that Mr. Tariq’s belief in our cause and having him as a loyal supporter enables us to achieve our humane mission of saving as many lives as possible."

For his part, Mr. Tariq Al Akkad expressed his happiness at seeing this benevolent idea being implemented in real life, stating that: "Standing alongside cancer patients is a humane civil duty, and we realize that cancer patients, especially those who require bone marrow transplants, need to stay near the KHCC for long periods of time, so we established this fund to secure them with suitable accommodation as to alleviate the physical and psychological burdens carried by cancer patients.
