- The residency program was established in 2003.
- The program is divided in to 2 types:

A. A categorical program: 5-year program with one resident at each level. A general surgery residency program, which is accredited by the Jordanian Medical Council. The graduating residents are eligible to obtain the Jordanian board in General Surgery upon passing the Board examination.

B. A transitional program: one-year program that supports 8 residents each year. The main purpose of the program is to prepare fresh graduates to expand their knowledge and provide hands on experience in general surgery in preparation to joining residency programs of various medical specialties abroad (In the U.S., U.K, and Australia).

The residents rotate through various surgical specialties at KHCC and at the Specialty Hospital, a primary affiliate of KHCC in supporting the residency program.  The affiliation is necessary to allow for resident exposure to non-oncology surgical patients.

The Department of Surgery is fortunate to encompass an exceptional group of faculty, staff, residents, fellows, research investigators and grateful patients and their families. This foundation will allow us to continue to define what the future of medicine will be.
